Wurth tosses shutout against Tremont

[April 03, 2025]  Madisen Wurth tossed a two-hit shutout versus Tremont on Tuesday afternoon as the Railsplitters took down the Turks 10-0. Wurth was outstanding over five innings, striking out seven batters.

The Railsplitters did not commit a single error in the field behind Wurth and the team had eight hits off Turks pitching.

Grey Gilbert reached on an error to lead off the game and two stolen bases later she was in a good position to score the game's first run on a base hit by Laurynn Mayberry. Three more walks and a hit by pitch in the inning put Lincoln in the scoring column again. By the time the Turks got out of the first inning, Lincoln was on top 4-0.

Lincoln plated a run in the second inning on an RBI double by Kelsey Marten.

Kate Farnam and Emma Hutchison singled back-to-back to start the third inning. Wurth hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Farnam while Hutchison scored on a bunt single by Lily Holmes. The big inning was far from over as Holmes would end up scoring on a wild pitch, Regan Kutz smacked an RBI double to center and Marten poked an RBI single to left. The Turks gave up five runs in the inning and Lincoln was now cruising 10-0.

Wurth, who had allowed a single to start the game, allowed one more hit in the fourth inning. Otherwise, she was dealing from the circle and Lincoln went on to win by a final of 10-0 in five innings.

Kelsey Marten recorded two hits for Lincoln.

Laurynn Mayberry, Regan Kutz, Kate Farnam, Emma Hutchison, Lily Holmes and Addy Mahler each had one hit.

Lincoln improved to 4-3 on the season.
